The thrift shop has always been a place where you can come and meet new people, while giving back to our military community. Because the thrift shop is a true non–profit, everything we make goes back to support our military communities, soldiers, families, and retirees. When you become a volunteer at the thrift shop, you are truly giving back, and we appreciate your help!!

Complete the Volunteer Packet and turn it into the Thrift Shop Volunteer Coordinator, or Rebecca, our store manager.
The application process is easy!
The Volunteer Management Information System, or VMIS, is an application that makes it easy for military community members to find volunteer opportunities online and submit applications for them. Additionally, VMIS gives useful management tools to volunteers and staff members of the Army Volunteer Corps, such as the ability to record volunteer hours and manage volunteer service records.

Create an account, register with username and password if new the process.

Under “Opportunities”, seek out the location, organization and position(s)
Of note: match your desire as best with the position wording (e.g. Sorting Clerk v. Sorting Position are close enough)

Complete the position information

Contact Management or Board Volunteer Coordinator at the Fort Lewis Thrift Shop at 253-964-0445
Step 6
Receive a tour, discussion of position, benefits, shop processes, scheduling, shop events

- Volunteers are welcome during regular business hours.
- Tuesday 9:00AM – 2:00PM
- Wednesday 9:00AM – 2:00PM
- Thursday 9:00AM – 2:00PM
- 1st Saturday of the Month 10:00AM – 2:00PM
