Pay it Forward

Fort Lewis Thrift Shop offers an opportunity to continue supporting each other and paying it forward through donations and consignment.

Community Giving

In the field, military service members function as a unit and often become like a family. When their service ends, that ethos doesn’t stop. Fort Lewis Thrift Shop offers an opportunity to continue supporting each other and paying it forward through donations and consignment. Once operating costs are covered, funds from every item donated go to causes that makes a positive impact in the lives of service members and their families. Over the past thirty years, the shop has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the community.

How it Works / Application Process

To apply, simply fill out a one-page questionnaire that helps the board of directors understand their needs and how they would spend the proposed funds. The board then reviews those documents and decides how to allocate the revenue generated through the thrift shop. If a board member has a question, they may contact the applicant to clarify information. Distribution of funds happens once a month or once per quarter.

Welfare Funds

We directly support the JBLM area by dispersing 100% of the Thrift shop’s net income into the JBLM community through educational programs, military related events and community efforts.
