The Fort Lewis Thrift Shop is operated by a combination of volunteers, employees, and managerial staff; all overseen by a volunteer board of directors. Our volunteers and staff are a special group of people who love to help the military community with their needs. The team is as diverse as America itself, with emigrants from around the world who are now U.S. citizens and serving in the U.S. Military working alongside volunteers from across the nation. They range in age from teenagers to seniors in their 90s, some of whom have been with us for more than thirty years.
What keeps them coming back is the satisfaction of being involved in an organization that supports the community it serves through regular charitable donations. The shop is also a great place to meet people from all walks of life whether you’re new in town or have been here for years. Volunteers and staff enjoy witnessing the fascinatingly unpredictable items that come through our doors each week, only to be snatched up by shoppers in pursuit of thrift shop Gold. We also have memorable times on holidays and birthdays, enjoying the special goodies that are brought in for all to share.
